Second Barber quarter with the AT PRO. :) Pic now included.

My brother Coinstriking and I went to a place we heard about from a guy in our detecting club. It is an island in the center of the river, the campgrounds we hunt are actually on this same river about 2 miles up. The sawmill that was on this river had there annual picnics on this island back in the day. The woods are kinda thick, but I found a spot that was kinda clear with a big tree in the middle. Right under this tree I got a really sweet sounding signal on the AT PRO. Called my brother over as we often do to compare signals, he got a high reading as well.

Now, I wish I had a pinpointer, I nicked it with my digger. But it turned out to be an 1898 Barber quarter. :)

I will put a photo up as soon as I can for those interested. I dont have a camera so my bro takes all the pictures.

3rd silver this year. 1909 Barber quarter, 1920 merc and then this 1898 barber quarter. First time I have ever broken into the 1800's with a silver in my detecting career. :) 426594_524843754197623_866043214_n.jpg

Sweet, I ordered an AT Pro Today. Looking forward to using it.

Well I will know tomorrow if the AT PRO really is water proof. I slipped and fell into the river with it today. I hope I didnt toast my non water proof headphones. They were only in the river for a few seconds.

I cleaned it up a little bit as it was pretty cruddy....looks decent now.

Thanks. I never found one before this year. But then we are hitting it hard every chance we get, Some days we leave at first light and come home at dark.

Congratulations on that find!:occasion14:

And I hope you guys are able to find work soon, I hear it's tuff around that area.

:icon_scratch: I think my MXT is allergic to silver quarters:dontknow:. That's a great find!

what types of depths are you digging your targets at? i have the ace 350 and my deepest coin find (wheats) was about 8" for some reason the 350 loves wheats

I am working, not much of a job but it pays the bills. I am finding coins at 1-6 inches. Where we hunt the coins dont sink all that deep. Since we hunt the woods, the root base/leave beds must have had an impact on how deep they go.
