Received a permission to hunt a co-worker's property and headed there today to detect.

There are two tombstones in a garden bed that date from late 1700s and early 1800s; these were apparently dug up when earth moving was done on the site.

I found the property to be challenging because the ground mineralisation is high and there are many iron targets.

There were not many "good" signals that I was hearing. Did manage 4 clad coins, a modern button, and a brass buckle with iron tongue. There was an old coin found and that was near a stone wall that was done by the owner's grandmother. This silver dime turned out to be one with "ONE DIME" on the reverse. While I couldn't read the date at the time of recovery, after washing the coin in water I discovered the date to be 1839.

Nice early seated McDig. The early ones are the best. Congrats

Nice save Mike, best of luck to ya.

Nice looking dime. Congrats.

Way to go! Still looking for my first and been looking over 3 years now. Congratulations on a beauty!

Almost a capped bust dime!

Excellent recovery sir. Congrats on the old US silver.

Nice... WTG.... Yet to dig silver since moving here in Florida...

Thx Scrappy! Tough site with lots of modern iron but glad for the one silver. Did get two clad dimes and two clad quarters.

Thanks Brad! Appreciate that. Looking forward to getting back to this home site to check out the woods and lower field.

Thanks Jamie! I was wondering if I'd find anything good, just no sweet tones like a deep anything.

Thanks JerseyDigger19! Congrats on your finds this year. It's been a very productive 2017 for you. 2017 has been a big break fro me from city parks to the countryside where I'm looking chiefly for relics.

Thanks Cal! Speaking of, I've never found a bust dime. Last year I did dig a draped bust half cent. GL and HH!

Ahhhhhh.
2 of the 1,053,115 minted accounted for, as my only Seated Coin Find was a No-Drapery 1839 SL. Dime

Great Job man . Hunt there again if possible & dig the 'iffy' signals or use a Smaller coil (if you have not already).

Scrappy is right IMO about the Early Seated , but I am biased.
HH 8-)
