Good morning all! Well I made another trip to hunt the east coast. And so far I have no complaints. The hunt for me started Sunday, I met up with Mike (McCDig) in Baltimore for park hunt. We hit the ground, it was cold but sunny and it ended up not being to bad. About 45 minutes into it I got a sweet 12/41 signal on the CTX.. it was about 7" deep and sounded good all the way around. Dug a decent size plug and flipped it out, and to my surprise I pulled out a 1882 seated dime. My first seated!!!! Unfortunately it had been clipped with what I could only assume was a push mower since this thing is great shape.
Then the next first for me was a mini ball down about 7 to 8 inches. Fun fun.. over all that day was fantastic and McCDig was a great guy, it is so fun meeting such great people and enjoying so much history..

The second day was another wonderful day with Brad (Treblehunter) We hit 4 different fields and we had some great finds in all of them. Brad himself dug 2 2 cent pieces in different fields a hr apart.. unbelievable.

I ended up on the day finding a toasted draped bust large cent, 1874 indian, musket ball, civil war infantry button, a merc, couple other buttons, cufflinks, and so on. What a great hunt..

Thank you McCDig and Treblehunter!

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14: Interesting cut piece of silver!

Hunting with friends...priceless!

Nice job on the seated and the civil war bullet. Not sure of variant...perhaps someone will know. Looks like a ringtail sharps but with two rings. Im not really versed on bullet types.

That cufflink looks like a football? I'm so interested to know what it is, You should post it on what is it. It's going to be cold tomorrow, I'm hoping we'll have no frozen ground at the Hayfield, no worries, that woods spot I was telling you about has lots of insulating leaves, easy digging. Congrats on your second Drapped Bust she has a pretty back side, lol

Excellent voyage back east. It's been a while since I have dug a seated coin. So sad to see a seated come out of the ground clipped. Still,, a nice recovery.
Congrats.

Perhaps "Relic Nut" will come along and ID that bullet. It is a bit different looking than most.

Congrats on all of your nice finds. The seated is killer, as I have never found one. Congrats and GL!

Thanks, I have been looking a little bit on the bulletent. Don't have my calipers with me since I am in a hotel but appears about 1/2".. found one that loomed similar but not exact that was a sharps like mentioned above..

Nice finds, Jackalope! I don't think that dime was hit by a mower... looks like it was cut to make change or something... like someone needed a cent, but only had a dime and a pair of tin snips.

Great finds! Must've felt awesome to get those old old finds, congrats!

Thanks folks, still smiling on the finds. Heading back out tomorrow to hunt some more. Have my fingers crossed for a goodie or 2 :)

Nice digs, always fun plundering the east coast

Got any cellar hole hunts planned? Not too many of those in California.

HH,
Cal

I forgot to congratulate you on that Seated, i think it is cool that it was clipped. I bet it was to make change not a lawn mower

Thanks folks, never would have thought they were still cutting coins that late.. learning everyday :)

Last time I saw brad he mentioned you were coming back again soon.

Nice Draped Cent and seated dime. That's a very straight looking cut for a mower. Great finds
