✅ SOLVED Seated liberty jewelry

I found this while looking through some of my deceased grandpa's things. I know the half dollar, quarter and dime are seated liberties, but what is the purpose of the chain? Seems like it may go through a button hole. What do you all think?

With the chain so short , it looks almost like a tie tack type thing , but no clip on back of coins
