I put in 8 hours (over two days) on one area right down the street from where I live and finally found a coin today. It's in pretty worn condition but I always get excited when I find a seated coin ... especially a half dollar or any coin for that matter dated 1859! There are thousands of iron targets so this area could keep me busy a long time if I practice patience.
Some of the other items found include countless square nails and mangled metal (not pictured), a lead Dupont gunpowder lid, a brass spur, horse tack, some pretty cool looking iron latches ... at least that's what they look like to me, period shoe doodads, brass lamp parts and lead.
It's always fun looking!
