Today was a sorta a sad day as I think about the buddy's I've lost over the years but good in that they were honored today by others. Well the morning started early with 2 different services to go to then a long march in the parade. After getting home the wife and I were hanging out and I started playing with the CTX in the front yard well under this big root left from a tree I took down I got a signal I have picked it up before but never messed with it. It was a bouncy kinda junky signal. seeing it was the only one I decided to dig it. Thank god it was in my yard because I tore it up. Well holy crap I let my wife pull it out and she started yelling honey it's a half dollar it's a half dollar but she wouldn't give it back I didn't know what it was for the first 4 min.

Scouts out!

Except for the hole, that thing is in good shape. I'd of done the happy dance right along with your wife.

Lucky dog u. Is that a shadow or where iron layed across it at one time

From a nail I don't think I can get it out of the silver

I wouldn't try either. It's great in the state it's in.

That be a keeper! Totally digging that first pic. I have a huge maple tree in the back yard and I have a solid 8" deep signal right at the base of it, probably could have dug it out 40-50 years ago but I'm afraid that it is now part of the tree. Short of a storm blowing the tree over (which I'm hoping won't happen), I'm afraid it's going to stay a mystery. Glad you found yours!

Sweet seated !

Wow that's a great old coin there..well worth the dig:thumbsup:

First off Thank You For Your Service To Our Country. Also awesome condition and the Iron shadow just gives it character.

awesome seated, and even cooler pic of the work ya had to do to get it!! I love holed coins!! Id wear that bad boy on my necklace for sure!

Fantastic find, congrats! Now I cringe thinking about all the targets I've had to abandon because roots prevented me from reaching them. Glad you got to this one!

i often thought about a cordless sawzall........ might look a bit aggressive though:tongue3:

I always try to dig them I have left some good signals I'm yards because after a little digging I new that it would make a mess and didn't want toile the home owner mad

Nice find. Wonder what they used to punch the hole? It's really nicely round...
