The last few hunts have been lucky for me. The seated is toast but I could tell it was one by the line above the 1876 date. I can’t believe a coin can be so thin and still have a date. Anytime I find a coin older than my town was founded it is a great day! The v nickel is in pretty good shape 1903. I am most happiest to find a date on the shield nickel 1883 the last year they were minted. I’m not sure what the other items are. The button thing says PV Clioquote. The Boyd jar lid is a beauty with the sun and moon on it. My sun was with me and we both were excited to look it up. The little bottle is a McKesson and Robbins that the neighborhood fox gig out. When it moves on I plan on burrowing deeper!
My detector is in the doghouse. I swept over the shield nickel and my detector didn’t see it. I eyeballed it. Threw it back where it was and my detector still couldn’t see it. It was a very trashy area. I didn’t try to hard, just swung as I had been. Thanks for sharing all that amazing stuff you all find. 177C350F-9C79-485D-BA7A-207EBA048064.jpeg0342E946-E394-4AAA-BD38-A246DA0905FC.jpegF211361F-49C3-4E6D-A981-4CC39A09331D.jpeg

A good day in my book. On the problem with your machine. First advise would be to remove the battery tube, and replace it after a pause.this works for me. Are you using smartfind? Is the screen showing a normal pattern? Is your threshold sounding normal?

Thanks for the posts. It’s no problem with the machine. There was to much trash around for it to see the coin even with it on the surface. I just did a quick test while I was out hunting. It sees it fine in my yard. I’m sure if I would have slowed down my swing or changed directions it would have seen it fine.

Congrats on the great finds- GL with the machine!

Congratulations on the nice relics! :occasion14:

Sweet Congrats !! In all my years up there, I've only found one shield nickel (1868) it was up in Altman

Thanks for the posts! Hi Charlie, this is my 3rd one! The others were so worn you could only tell it was a shield by the stripes left from the shield. No dates at all! I feel very fortunate to find one with a date even though it’s rough! I wish Altman was still there. Happy Hunting!

Mine is in pretty good shape ,the whole date. I remember when we could still drive up to Altman, park right on the main drag and play ! Sooooo much is gone !
