Sears gun... date?

How can I date this Sears .22?

Does it have a serial #? Most inexpensive .22 rimfire rifles didn't have serial #s prior to, I think, 1936.

The model # should be stamped on the receiver, post it (not the serial #, if any) here so others can research/reply.

That trigger and trigger guard look like mid 50s to mid 60s to me. I want to say I've seen a mossberg or two that looked a lot like that. I wonder if that's who made it for sears?

It is Mossberg? made.? Nice little rifles youi could once buy from mail order.? Not worth a lot of money but a handly little camp gun.? I'd guess late 40'sor early to mid 50s.? Monty

It looks like my first squirrel rifle. I bought mine from Sears back in the late 50ies for a whopping $16. Nice plinker

Sometime along in the late fifties, Sears started putting J.C. Higgins on their guns instead of the Sears brand. Not sure when though? Monty
