Got my brand new Sea Hunter II yesterday. Later that same day, I took it out of the box and assembled it. Turned on power and got the 4 beeps, slowly turned theshold and got a slight hum at number 2. Elimination @ 0. In standard mode when coil goes over a coin it gives a tone when the coil is leaving the coin and the tone gets loud and stays that way for about 4 seconds then it goes back to the hum. Pass the coil the other way and the same thing happens. Go over the coin slowly and the threshold goes null until the coil passes then it blares up. In the discreet mode it seems to work normally like a regular machine and the tone does not get loud. I did call Garretts and talked to a tech and he said that is normal, I don't think so, if it is that can be very annoying....any help? thanks, John

It has been awhile since I used the Sea Hunter but what you describe is normal as that is how Pulses work. Normally you sweep a little faster but pulses respond slowly. First time I used an Excal I thought it was broke because the threshold came back at a different tone. I would say to use it for a week to see if you catch on to it or find a buddy that has one.

I have watched the videos on the sea hunter where they assemble the unit and then pass targets across the coil, the machine that they use does not do what mine does, it doesn't blare up loud and stay blared up for 4 seconds. I will call Garrett again Monday and talk to Brad, maybe he can help me. Did talk to Bart at Big Boys Hobbies and the Gentelman that he is, he said he would make it right one way or the other, thanks Bart. John

In the instructional video, it says the standard mode in non motion, on mine, the target goes null under the coil, it's going back to Garretts.....HH

It sounds like something is definitely wrong. Garrett will make it right.

Good Luck,
Sandman
