Hi Everyone, I've known about these little personal propulsion water scooters for awhile, but just now looking more seriously at them. They are cute, and run about 2-4mph underwater, and above. You hold on and cruise along.

I was thinking that a little scooter would be good for md in water. To get out a little way from shore, then let it go (tied to you), it floats, and go md'ing underwater. Not too deep or too far out.

Or, if not for md'ing underwater, then just plain fun!

Have you used one? How was it? ebay $150.00 free shipping. Cost less than my gps and ipod touch!

Couple years ago I bought one of these for hauling all my dive gear out to over the drop offs. I found they were nice to use in short bursts to clear away the mud and sand from a find. I also used mine to patrol the swim areas with mask, and snorkle to look for gold chains, paper money and such on the bottom which the detector couldn't respond to. The nose cone comes off and you can add rocks to make it weighted for less buoyancy. Very handy. Mine was a SeaDoo but I wasn't the GT model.

I strongly recommend buying a quality brand product like the SeaDoo. There are a lot of chinese cheapo sea scooters beeing sold of very bad quality (as with detectors too).

With two young sons who love to swim, I have purchased a couple of these. They do well in fresh water. Not sure how they stand up in salt water. They have the 12 volt rechargeable batteries and the batteries seemed to hold up pretty well.

I have seen how the pros use these as was said by Sandman. They turn them around and let the prop wash blow the sand away from the bottom where they are trying to get to a target. They hold the nose against their chest for a backstop.

I am trying to remember how long these last on a charge but I believe it was about a half hour of constant use by my boys in the pool. If you use it just to get out to the hunt and then sporadically after that, they should do you good.

Wrecker probably is hitting it on the head with his comment. I would probably go with a little more money and make sure to get something from a reputable manufacturer. You can probably pick up one on Craigslist or EBAY on the cheap from a higher end company. People in hard times part with some pretty good stuff and you know you wouldn't get in the salt water with a cheap detector.

Let us know how it works out if you go that route. I am not Beach Hunting anymore since I moved to the mountains of Tennessee but I love to keep reading about what you guys are finding.

Good Luck.

Hi Everyone, thank you for the good advice. I did see some seadoo ones on ebay that were not too pricey. I plan to spend a lot of time in the water hunting, in Florida, and thought this would help me out.

Thanks again,
Susan, and my dogs kelly & tinky

FloridaTreasureFinder, I got set back when you said Paul Walker was a cutie. I was thinking of you as a Bro. Sorry. :laughing7:

Into the Blue is also one of my favorite movies as it brings back memories of diving on white sands, warm water and big fish.
