Sorry I do not know anything about your pipes but they sure are nice. I have one that I found and I am still trying to get some info on mine too. I hope you find something out about your pipes. 8) 8) 8) :)

LDMorril, I mean no offense by this - but those just don't look right. I could go into more detail, but will suffice to say that the manufacture on them looks completely off. I would highly recommend you having someone well versed in hardstone items taking a good look at those pieces. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

not to rain on your prade, but I think someone is blowing smoke,,and it's not out of them pipes,,If you know what I mean! ALL look bogus to me,,,,Michael Karr :laughing7:

I have to agree with Matt and Michael, something just doesn't set right with those Pipes. What are the odds of finding 3 Pipes with what appears to be a Bison Skull on them and 2 with Snakes. They don't look like typical Hopewell Pipes either.

For one thing, buffalo (bison) horns are short. The extinct ones had longer horns that stuck straight out, sideways. The only cattle with horns like that would have been those the settlers brought in with them -- making a Hopewell era attribution impossible.

were these found when they were putting in the bridge? I always wanted to chk it out but never got the chance. they closed the dig down didn't they?

If they are authentic :icon_scratch: they look like they would be from a later culture than the hopewell, they dont look hopewell.i think the ones that appear to have animals on them are of snakes and deer or elk.so what is it that all of you dont like about these pipes??ldmorrill, what info did you get from the museum when you obtained these pipes, just curious?i would think they would know where they were found, what context they were found in,mound, dig location,etc....
