Well it was my third hunt this year lasted forty minutes in the pouring rain. Rain started twenty minutes in and would not stop. Got a very sweet dime signal around 4.0 down and out pops my first sliver of the year, a 64-d Rosie! Nothing special but I do not hit a lot of silver mainly clad... 3 hunts, 2 with Se, one with Dfx,. I decided I am going to use the dfx a little more this year or sell if i use as little as last year.

Way to go on the silver. I've only found one silver this year also.

Gregg, i will be going on some rain or shine hunts this year myself. How are you keeping your detector dry during the rain/ Is the factory rain cover good enough? I have one, but I haven't tried it. Thanks

Nice looking dime bud!
You've already got 3 hunts and one piece of silver more than me so far. Was hoping to get out this weekend, but just like the last 4 or 5 weekends in a row the weather is terrible.
Good luck on your next hunt!
Mike

Congrats on the silver! I was out in the rain for about 4/5 hours today. Ruined a pair a jeans with mud and everything else got dirty/soaked. Oh well, the sacrifices you gotta make sometimes lol. HH 8)

John I like the factory cover on the Se. But there is one problem, glare when it is sunny. I do a few extra things to protect in rain besides the cover. I will wrap plastic around area right where the headphones plug in for extra protection. I saw a pic once where someone cut one of those plastic water bottles and fit around base. If the rain is hard I stop, today was very hard here! Gregg

Thanks everyone! :) And Nate I know what you mean, I have spend many a rainy day detecting... I took a three month break from forums, detecting, all that stuff. You know those fancy table napkins, usually red in the restaurants. I use when of those for my hands to keep wiping the mud. Luckily I have two in black, come in handy for setting the plug on also. So will take me a while to get back into the swing of things... Also would like temps back above 40! Need to send my Koss hadphons in for repair...also....

Good to see your out there Greg. I gotta believe it would be hard for you to sell that DFX. You've logged a ton of hours with that huntin' dog. But ya gotta love the Explorer.

40 min hunt and 1 silver,That's Great!!!! excellent hunt!

Nice find!!

I'm still zip on silver for the year. We had 2 days of rain here that ended at dinner time. I took the DFX out to hit the wood chips just to get out. After swinging the SE exclusively since last summer, it was wierd going back. Funny, I was thinking the same thing about mine - selling it if I don't use it.

Nice find Gregg, always fun to pull out that silver and I'm sure we'll be seeing more and more when you can get out to swing. Can you let that DFX go?? It has found you a bank full of clad and even some nice gold too??
