SE Colorado, Canon City, NO GOLD THERE. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
I have been in Canon, City Colorado now going on seven weeks. I can assure anyone reading this post, if there is ANY gold in the Arkansas River.. there's NO LEGAL WAY to get at it. After running down a dozen stories from locals about where to pan for gold around the Canon area, (Some even led me to the very locations, but alas the gold had dissappeared) it's clear there IS NO GOLD in any of the canyons or creeks, or the river around Canon.
Probably the ONLY local who offered a credible opinion said' "The gold being found around Victor and Cripple Creek is "Hard Rock" gold. It doesn't flow outta there. and even if a tiny bit did, it would fall out the water LONG BEFORE it EVER reached Canon".
