I didn't start until later, but I know what you mean. Some guys seem to be able to hunt every day of the week, and I'm sure they are really active in finding new sites. The days of plentiful silver were tapering off by the time I got into detecting, I think. Combine those two, and people like us with not much free time are going to find it quite a challenge. But hey, every find you do make is that much more exciting. Just don't compare it with how things used to be, that's all.

Looking around, I think I have seen more sites lost to development than have been hunted out. Old fairgrounds and sites... covered in asphalt, bulldozed, backfilled, you name it.

The sites I hunt lately, if I find one Merc I am pretty happy. Lately my take on the hobby has been more the fun of discovering the nature and use of the whatsits that are uncovered. Try as I might, though, I still don't get happy when I dig a pulltab.

w.t.g. scrounger took me a while to find my first silver but after that the good finds just keep getting better congrats !

Way to go scrounger! Keep up that positive attitude....and good finds  will come.

Congratulations on the silver! Thats what made me give up on searching for silver. I like to buy it because its easier than finding it.

Nice merc congrats.
