The creek was raging when I got there, so the areas to mine were limited. I went upstreem and found some gravel behind and under some very large boulders (truck size). I felt like I was playing "jenga" with the boulders. Any way, I watched them carefully. I had a tuff time with the sluice because every time I returned to run some gravel, the water had dropped and I had to reset the box. This is the results of about 4 buckets worth.

That is not very forgiving terrain. YIKES, Looks like its defiantly a place where you earn the gold!
Any bench material higher up?

It's a strange creek. There was a hydrolic mine 1/2 mi. above, and it was filled 20 ft. high with overburden. That's all been washed away. Not a bad idea looking for a bench deposit. It is very steep on sides. And the bolders are huge! It is very hard to find true bedrock.

Did you say you are up in the Yuba country??Those are some intimidating boulders!!!

That area is just over the line in nevada co. It's hard to belive that it is at only 500' elevation. It looks higher up.
