Script "A", 3 IH's, token

Hi All,
Got back to the old swim hole / beach I found the wreath buckle at. I dug a complete mint shape confederate script artillery button, 3 toasted indian heads and a holed token of some kind to one of the famous Delmonico restaurants in NYC. The one at 112 Broadway was in business from October 26, 1876—1888. The token reverse is the same.

:o A script A dug North of Va is a rare and unusual occurrence , although it happens . Read some where , the opposing forces used each others buttons out of necessity rather than for souvenirs .
Cool Delmonico toke , known for a Great Steak 8-)

I don't believe the buttons on Robert E. Lee's coat in the Confederate Museum are prettier than the one you found! Astounding button!

Very nice assortment of finds.

Awesome Button! :occasion14:

Those are tough to find anywhere, in any condition. To find a flawless example in New York is incredible! That particular design style is actually known as the Manuscript "A" Confederate Artillery button, and considerably more desirable than the Confederate Script "A" buttons that are seen with a bit more frequency.

That site definitely warrants more searching, in hopes of finding the matching center tongue portion of the two-piece tongue & wreath buckle, as well as the possibility of more buttons such as this find. :icon_thumright:
