Relic Hunting
Went digging today in a new spot out back of my house. Found a ton of shells but not even a flake. I moved over about 15 feet and started finding no shells but a lot of chips and a couple broken or unfinished pieces. Found this scraper (or is is a knife?) The edge is very sharp. Maybe not the sexiest find but I certainly have a new spot to go hunting.

Man if you found that in your back yard there is plenty more to find. Usually shell is an indication of long occupation. It was a constant reliable food source unlike the next meal on the hoof. They really swept and cleaned up their camps into those piles. Two identical fields side by side along a creek. One rocky one smooth. The smooth one will be the producer
Good luck!

That's a good useful observation.

Everything I've been finding over the past month or so is in walking distance from my house, which is pretty great. This spot is out in the woods, about 100 yards from a small stream. So many shells.

Thats a nice find. I like the wavy look of the edge on that tool. In my neck of the woods if I was to find a tool with that type of an edge it would be an early piece. You should focus on that spot and I will be interested as to what else you find. Good Luck, rock
