Went to 2 sites yesterday and it was a hot one.
In the morning i went to my 1840's era homesite and dug a nice 22.2mm floral design 2 piece civilian button that says Scoville Extra Superfine. Was wondering if anyone could date this one for me.

In the afternoon we went to another site where some civil war activity took place. It was late in the day and it was a long hike in, and we were scouting for a camp.
Right at the end of the hunt i found a bullet that looks to be carved. Im thinking it might be an Enfield. It has some flat sides like someone fillet the sides off and, it looks like someone tried to slice it in half. I put it in my calipers and rolled it and the widest point is .57" wide, it is .92" tall.

Would love some more info on the button and bullet.
Thanks.

I believe its an S (not E) at the end of Scovills, which was a mark used from 1827-1840**this according to online resources, which are notoriously incorrect. However, that is about correct for a button from the "Golden Age" of Gilt buttons (civilian), which this is a nice example of.

Bullet definitely looks carved to me. Outstanding!! That's a good sign your close to the camp your looking for. Hunt it hard.[emoji106]

Possible Enfield?

It's hard to say with it being carved.

Thanks for responding RN. I guess it is hard to tell with it being carved.
The 12th pic from the top really looks like it could be an enfield, but maybe its just the angle of which the photo was taken.

It looks like it may have been made into a fishing sinker. And, it does resemble an Enfield but we would need precise measurements to properly ID it.
