Scoville 20X2 MM ???

I know it looks smooth, but being so large, I'm hoping someone can see an image on the front of this button, or maybe a date from backmark.

Early to mid 1800's,can't tell if anything else is wrote on back.But the front is just plain most likely alot of those type flat plain buttons show up. Here is a site that will give you a rough Idea.

I agree with TK about it being blank on the front.. The back appears to be Leavenworth, Hayden, Scovill .. a very early American backmark.. Only dug one w/ that backmark and it was military, so could be, but you'll probably never know

I agree with umrgolf2010 it appears to be military, the company is listed many times in Tice on one piece buttons as JML&WH SCOVILL, c. 1827-1840. there is one listing "* JML&WH SCOVILL*EXRTA RICH" but its for a raised mark your pictures look like the letters are depressed. Please advise I am still looking.

not a lot of help, button is in poor shape.
