The new land we have gained permission for only had 1 likely target (not counting the nearby Church) which was only just visible as a faint cropmark. It was also musked by the stitching together of 2 timelines on Google Earth, & only brought to light by Land-Mag's research.
When we got to the spot it was a classic looking Roman Site on top of a hill & 1000 metres from the road.
We were not really out to detect (out for less than 2 hours), just scouting the spot. It was only Dad who had the Cortes & I was field walking. I got plenty of Roman Pot Shards so we thought the game was on...
Sadly it seems to have been done, as very few good signs came up, just 1 bit of lead & a couple of nails.
The only good find was a late Medieval Leather Mount (Cherub face).
The brass pouring spout looked interesting but I think it's post-medieval!
