Scottish brooch

This brooch was a recent $1.00 auction find which I couldn't resist, especially as it was labeled "unidentified" ::)
All I have managed to confirm is that it is Scottish, the sword and sceptre indicating Scottish royalty, but I haven't found if it has any other significance.
I'm hoping one of the Wizards of Treasurenet can tell me a bit more.

I wish it was gold :icon_pirat: but it's cast pewter or similar, slightly magnetic and has no markings at all.

Its a great piece and even better because it was a dollar!!! I would think the sword and sceptor would be significant of king James VI of Scotlands reign as that is the same insignia that was on his gold coins....but then there is the entire story of the ROYAL Crown jewels that were stolen .....
