It came with two stones, and the acids. Paid $8 for it. My issue is that when I test items that I know are gold/silver the acid isn't working.... Or is it? I tried my wedding ring(14k) and it dissolved with 18k but with 14k it didnt. I have several .999 pure 1oz silver bars and tried those. They were dissolved, when the directions said it should turn red.... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

1-Acids could be old, they do have a shelf life.
The 14k ring should have dissolved with the 18k acid. It's only 14k. The acid for the silver goes bad first. Try a streak test using the 18k acid on the silver bars. Streak should turn a milky light gray color.

Thanks for the info. I just went online and bought some new stuff on ebay. Hopefully they will work.

Sometimes the acids are old or mislabeled.

When you do a scratch test, do 3 scratches to ensure the results are the same.

IMO, I have had bad results scratching sterling on a stone. Now I ONLY test directly on the item.
