I took a drive thru the country just looking around at potential places to detect in the near future and I saw this old abandoned farm I have wanted to detect for 2 yrs....I have called the owner 15-20 times, and he never answers. Well guess what? He was mowing the yard, so I pulled into the drive to talk to him. I asked permission and he was reluctant at first, seems like it is harder to get permission for abandoned places than it is is places where people live. He even said no two times, but I just ignored the "NO's" and kept chatting with him, after about 10 minutes he finally gave in and said "I guess it will be alright" so I told him I will give him 20-30 min to finish mowing, because he was about done and return to detect.

It started off slow.....Got a few wheats, the rosie, button, the buckle....then the crusty indian. Was about to leave, actually swinging to the car and I got a 4" deep quarter signal on the etrac. Nothing was deep here so I thought just ....MAYBE... a silver quarter, but I was shocked to see the 1844 LC to give me a "penny trifecta" for the evening!!!!

great digs yet again! Persistence pays off. I recently dug a half cent at only 4 inches at one farm site and a beat up LC at another site at only 3 inches, crazy how shallow they were

Great hunt! You just never know what you'll find in old yards. Congrats on the large cent.

Thanks for all the kind words!

My friend I hunt with just pulled one of those exact buckles the other day.. we were thinking shoe? Nice haul!
