It's time for me to buy a scoop. My needs are 10% saltwater beach (Gulf of Mexico and E.coast) and 90% Midwestern streams and rivers with a bit of everything - clay, sand, silt, gravel. I don't freshwater hunt much so it won't be likely it sees much stream and river action, but I'm unpredictable sometimes :unhappysmiley:

I hate cheap tools and will want the best durability.

Is the Stealth 720 strong enough for my intended use?

Looks nice, but without holding a tool....you know.

If not, could someone make a suggestion who makes the scoop I would likely want.

If you're digging in clay, gravel, and wet sand, I would go with one of the stealth models like you said. The pointed tip will cut through easier with the stuff you're going to be digging in.

The 920IX extreme is a really good scoop. Wider than the 720, making it easier to retrieve your target first scoop. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1484684856.667687.jpg

That's what I was thinking about the pointed tip.

Is there one shaft mount method better than the other for some reason?

I was looking at the smaller size thinking how much it would weigh full of wet gravel. Probably will do the 720 for that reason.

The othet reason is on our State Park beaches we're limited to 8" diameter (if I recall correctly).

Thank you.
