Scarce date Seated Liberty dime

I found this dime under a sidewalk in Rushford, MN in 1997. Though the mintage was only 206,524 compared to a 1916-D Mercury dime of 264,000, the coins value doesn't compare to that of the 16-D dime. It's all about supply and demand. More people collect Mercury dimes than Seated dimes.

This is a very good point you make and I've wondered about it myself. And you're right too--it is about supply and demand.

I'll bet though that few of the actual mintage of your seated still exist. There may be fewer than 10,000 nice examples out there in collections or buried.
