Relic Hunting
Decided to duck out of work early today and spent 4hrs at a park I had good luck at last year. Last fall I found 10 silver coins and the 1907 silver thimble here.

For the first time while hunting here I met another detectorist, he introduced himself, but I'll be darned if I can remember his name. ??? He mentioned that he grew up in Northern California, met and married a Canadian girl there, then came to live in Toronto in 2006. I gave him one of my metal detecting business cards; hopefully we can meet up and hit some parks. He mainly hunts for coins and jewelry, where as I go slow and deep for silver coins and relics.

I had a pretty decent day; I got my first two silver dimes of the year, a '53, a '62 and a '32 Canadian Penny! I also found a '52 Wheatie and a number of Canadian pennies from the '40's - '60's. I also found the bowl of a silver plated spoon, this thing was at least 10'' down and has a hole drilled through the end? :icon_scratch: I also found $2.30 in change and an old subway token.

Thanks for looking and best of luck to all!
Dave

The spoon. Could someone have been using it as a fishing spoon?

Thanks for posting.

Thanks very much for your post SHERMANVILLE! :icon_thumleft:
I thought the exact same thing when I saw the hole.
Somebody must have made it into a fishing lure after it broke!

Best of luck to you!

Fishing spoon would be my guess too!

I love hunting old relic sites . . . as I feel
the imprint of past lives often linger there.

I view relic sites as windows to the past, sacred places
in a way, yet at the same time attesting to the reality
that the past is still very much a part of our today!
The quote above could only be expressed by someone who truly appreciates history...all of history. Thank you for sharing that, very well said.
