Got out for a couple of hours today to a colonial site that I have been to several times in the past but it keep on giving up some decent finds. It just takes a lot more work to find them. My favorite finds for the day are a scale weight that says 1 OZ on it with AE stamped in the middle. Does anyone have any information on this? Also dug a piece that could be a button, cuff link or ladies pendant. It is a purple stone or glass in a small brass bezel (that promptly fell off after digging). I can't see any signs of a broken shank or loop for attachment to a chain so I am at a loss as to its purpose. The tombac buttons clean up like they are brand new - amazing after spending 200+ years in the ground.

Thanks Abe, I've slack about posting my finds on the rare occasion that I can get away from work to detect. I'm sure that would be different if I had the amazing hunts that you have had recently. It's about time that we see more finds from you.

Its a glass stone insert to the base of a wax seal, some where blank - 1790-1830

Thanks for the ID. It is definitely the right size to be a wax seal but since it doesn't have anything engraved in it I didn't recognize it as such. A wax seal fob is high on my bucket list.
