scabbard tip another photo added

found this this morning at a site where maj.gen lafeyette incamped during the rev war appears to be silver plated and new phto shows some of the wood still in it and you can see what appears to be where the blade came to rest theres a grove in the wood thats left

thanks .im not sure if its from that era and i think it might be for a bayonet or straight sword
