I detecting after work today at a spot I just had a gut feeling would produce some relics. Needless to say it produced this SC button as well as some other artifacts I'm really not sure of........ Looking for some insight. Thanks.

The button is has the markings of HORSTMANN BROS. & CO. PHIL.

The round thing has eight stars, looks to me like a part of a pocket watch or compass, but I'm not really sure.

The larger round piece that's in two pieces has a loop in the middle and I have not a clue as to what it could possibly be.

The three piece SC button, which is a SC25A (Alberts) is a post war button.

Still a nice find.

I found mine before I knew about SC buttons and did a chicken dance thinking I had found a SC Confederate Officer's button. :laughing7:

Here is my "Officer's" button with a Jacob Reeds Sons Phil bm, as well as another post war SC button that turned out to be a Porter Academy button.

As best I can figure on the object with the star shaped holes is a kitchen shaker of sorts, similar to: vintage 1860s antique salt and pepper shakers by OurVintageHouse
other ideas That have been put out there on similar found objects are part of a pasta maker or cookie press.
I note that yours has some additional decoration, which may help someone find an exact match, hopefully more exciting than the above ideas.

Nhbenz,
The piece is very ornate, has multiple designs through out the metal work. When I first pulled it from the ground I though it was an early makeup canister, but once I cleaned it the stars appeared, lol. I have no idea as to what it could possibly be, its definitely a first for me. Thanks for your insight.
