Found this in the woods near where I’ve found trade goods, rang up high tone on my Garrett detector checked the vid number once it was out of the ground and it rang up 82 first pass and 85 second. As far as I know that means it’s silver, it was deeper than some targets maybe 4-5 inches and that’s how it looked after just running water on it.... I’m not sure seems awfully shiny even for silver... anybody know anything about silver or know what it might be?

Looks like silver. A lot of the silver we get out of the ground looks like it was put there yesterday, some is slightly tarnished and some is black.

I wasn’t sure on silver I’ve only found two other pieces so I don’t have much experience. What are the chances it was part of a locket? It looks like the rim on the back side comes around like it wasn’t meant to be much bigger

I would say it is silver. Could be some sort of ingot used for trade purposes. Looks period as well.
Nice Find!

My first thought was a melted blob of aluminum, my next thought was the same as SpareSomeChange, cutlery tip. :icon_scratch:
Likely one of those mysteries you'll never solve.

I agree with smokey that it is silver. The rough edge on facing left appears like a cut - as suggested by Spare. The crude side in the first 2 pictures compared to the smooth rounded side in the third makes me think of some sort of handle (i.e. of a sugar bowl) rather than an eating utensil. Whatever it is, it sure is interesting!
