Elk County, PA
Detector(s) used
Whites Spectrum XLT and I love it.
These were found yesterday in a ghost town that is only a mile or so from my house. It used to have a sizeable sawmill in the 1890''s to early 1900's. There are some great foundation holes. I left a lot of scrap such as pieces of pipe, strapping etc. But thought these were keepers. The one piece looks like a locking mechanism but at first glance I thought I found part of a rifle. I found all of these in the same area, there was a large foundation hole, about 20 feet behind that a well and then about another 30 feet to a smaller foundation and small pit. It is adjacent to National Forest lands and I am thankful there is a creek that is the boundary to save me some potential grief. I found an identical double bit axe head in the area a few years back.

Great stuff! I don't know if you are familiar with the Tnet member "Lumbercamp" or not, but he has a fantastic collection of logging finds if you're interested in that area of collecting you should check his posts out. Cheers, Buck

I like your finds! Always good to be digging. Tennessee digger
