Copper Bell 053024.jpg

Slow night. So I was happy when I pulled up this little copper bell. No dinger.

Shield Nickel Reverse 053024.jpgShield Nickel Obverse 053024.jpg

This nickel came out of the ground as a dirt sandwich. Took some vigorous electrolysis to get to the details. Still can't quite make out the date. Thinking 1868.

Buggy Tag 053024.jpg

Incomplete, but interesting. Tag indicating Rogers MFG, Mason, MI. Rogers Manufacturing became Rogers Buggy Co. in 1906. So likely a tag off from a carriage.

Today's finds...

Shield Nickel (1868?)
Copper Bell
Tag from a carriage?

Love that little bell, but the buggy tag is pretty neat as well. What does the inside of the bell look like? As small as it is, it might be a candle snuffer.

No, it's a bell. Same design on top as a crotal bell. Inside was stuffed with dirt that came out with some persuasion. Not much else to see other than the bump where the shank for the clanger broke off.
