Well what a cracking day, sun shine and chilly, my fave detecting weather! Shooting season has started so we need to pick our fields carefully 😂 so back we went to his Roman Fields… I left him contemplating which direction to walk in up and down or side to side) 🥹… I lost interest and headed off to my own fields!

First off a tiny coin weight, it’s 1 cm across and weighs 1.61 gms 🤔 , then MY gorgeous Fibula, (that caused consternation at lunch, as I was miles from his Roman hotspot 😂) lovely little buckle, 2 loop things, 2 bits of plate and the cutest pot leg ever, a lead button, end of a spoon handle 🤔 a big tack pin, weird little bit, smashed thimble, pretty button, not sure about this, bit like a broken stirrup ? Musket balls, usual buttons, a military type button ? It may be upside down .. pre dec, and finally my hammered…

Himself found 8 Romans so we were both very happy with our efforts 😍 xx

Great hunt! Congrats!

A roaming Roman fibula. Hmm.

The ground has been pretty good to relics still.

Don't recognize (surprise!) the silver coin with the big eared jester looking King on it. No offense to the model.

The spire indicates a potential cottage for your next summer...(Bring your waving with shovel forthwith with which to enquire thereof.)

Thanks RC xx I believe the chap on the coin is that Longshanks chap Edward the 1st… coin minted in Newcastle 😍 … 1239-1307 …. ! xx

Oh what a lovely Fibula broach you recovered.
Well dug on the hammered as well.
The weight can be figured out I'm sure.
So another great day of digging.

Just a small suggestion on gaining the attention of the next farmer working the dirt.
Don't wave the bloody shovel at him.
Just calmly walk over in his field.
Lay down on your back.
He'll stop, run over, taking the hand of the fallen Lass.

"That's your opener, sir can detect your fields?"🤣

Ha ha! I wondered were it was going when you got to the “lay down on your back part” 😂😂😂 xx

Love these kinds of finds, wish I could detect historical locations like that! I’m still hoping one day I find something early that traveled to the new world in the beginning 🤘

Outstanding!!! Congrats!!!

Fantastic finds!

The Military button in question is a US General Service Button with the Great Seal on it. It's probably a WWII one.
I believe the Great Seal US army button is from WW1, but this style button was used for many years up to present day.

Can you read the back marks on the button, that will help on a positive ID and possible date?

Way to go again Blossom and Himself! Thanks for the great pictures and for sharing with us all!

great finds! Love the Roman fibula. The US button looks to be WW1 as it looks to have a more pronounced outer rim and lined back ground than WW2 era ones. You can tell it was also a matte black color originally.
