Saturday's short hunt: Found silver and she's sittin' down!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! This has been a great year already. My MD'ing buddies/family and I seem to be finding silver every trip out so far. My short hunt with Dan32981 Saturday morning was no different. Our research is finally paying off! Dan and I decided to go back to a spot real close to home that produced some good finds last year. This spot is an old foundation of the oldest home in my town. The historians said the house burnt down in the 30's. Also "back in the day" the town had some sort of Militia that used the field right behind the house to do drill practice. We hit this spot late last year when everything had pretty much grown up, so swinging was hard. I still managed to find an early flowing hair large cent(no date) and a Green River Whiskey Token from the 20's and 30's. Dan found a really cool military button with an eagle on it. So needless to say we were excited to get back early this year, so swinging would be easier. Well, to make a long story short, dan found a 1926 wheatie and 1908 V-nickel. I got 1 coin, but man was it a good one. The signal was not a good. I almost did'nt dig it. Man I'm glad I did! At about 8 inches down, out popped a 1891 Seated Liberty dime in pretty good shape. Man I was shocked!, not because of what it was(Okay maybe a little! LOL), but because of the signal my 1225 gave. I only got a detection 2 ways. Upon rechecking my plug, I figured out why. There was trash in with it. It turned out to be 3 old nails of some sort. Anyway, thanks for reading and looking. Needless to say I'm still doing the Happy Dance. This is only my second seated Liberty and first in this good of shape. Thanks again and HH.
