Went back to my old New Englander in Alton today. Spent a few hours and man, was it hot! I was totally soaked by the time I left. I would like to have stayed longer, but I was out of Gatorade! LOL! ;D
Lots more pennies, but also managed to find a 1905 Liberty V nickel and 2 silver Rosies! Whoo-hoo! Man, I just love seeing that silver come out of the ground. Other than my half-dime, these are my first silvers. Much easier to spot in the hole than the dark pennies and clad. Anyway...
Unfortunately, the nickel is in really bad shape. Not sure if there's much hope for it, but it's gone into olive oil along with the Indian. Here's a few pics to share. These are all my "keepers" since I got my detector in April, and the other is a shot of my 5 "special" coin finds.

They didnt make a 1826 half dime nor a 1826 dime it has to be 1836....

1835 half-dime.
One of my first finds... less than a week after getting my detector. ;D I got seriously lucky, and it's a hard act to follow. Definitely got me hooked on the hobby, though. LOL!

For a second I didn't know if it was the plate ore what was in it... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good finds keep it up.

Plate is an auction buy. Just happened to be where I've been throwing stuff. LOL!

If you think that's a full plate, I should take a pic of the "junk, trash, and canslaw" stash that has built up!
Ha! :o

Nice job on the coins. :) Those nickles always come out of the ground looking pretty nasty. :'(

I'm glad you showed us your avatar. I've been wondering about it. That half-dime is beautiful. :o I can see why you're hooked.

I hear you about the silver. All you have to do is dig the plug and you see the edge of the silver coin and your heart skips a beat. ;D Even if it turns out to be a rosie it's fun. Any nickel other than Jefferson is cool even beat up.

That's the only non-Jefferson nickel I've managed to find. I usually dig the nickel signal, even though it almost always turns out to be a pulltab. And don't I just hate those dog-gone pulltabs! :P

Hiya Ceejay,

Awesome finds! Next time & everytime pack plenty of water/gatorade. It's way too hot & digging makes you do alot of sweating.

Thanks for the nice comments on my finds!
And I hear ya on keeping hydrated. :P Today, I went over to the University of NH to hunt a little. I found plenty of trash and all of about $.34 in clad, but had to drink 2 jugs of Gatorade before I was done. Didn't even find enough to pay for the Gatorade! LOL! ::)
Wanted to stay longer, but it was just too hot. It doesn't seem to stop me from going out MD-ing though...I just don't get to stay and play as long.

Very nice group of finds, Congrats!!!
That half dime is awesome, very nice...
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~
