Not really CRHing at all, but I do most of my posts on this forum.

I haven't had much luck CRHing lately and threw an ad on Craiglist offering to buy coins. I connected with someone and picked up the following:

- 2 '23 Peace Dollars (average circulated condition)
- 1 1885 Morgan dollar (haven't focused on the grade yet, but not "worn" in any sense)
- 2 Mercs - '36s and '39 - needed both for my collection
- 1 silver Canadian dime ('62)
- 2 silver Canadian quarters ('51 and '52)
- 1 Chile 5 pesos 1927 (0.7234 oz. asw)
- 1 Chile 1 peso 1910 (0.3472 oz. asw)
- 1 Chile 1 peso 1903 (0.4501 oz. asw)
- 1 Chile 2 pesos 1927 (0.2893 oz. asw)
- 1 Chile 1 peso 1915 (0.2083 oz. asw)
- 1 Chile 20 centavos 1862 (0.1331 oz. asw)
- 1 Australia florin 1940 (0.3363 oz. asw)
- 1 1907 V nickel, worn (not silver, I know)

Paid $120 for the lot.

Nice buys CC-Hunter!

2 Peace Dollars at $18.53 each -- $37.06
1 Morgan at $18.53 -- $18.53
2 Mercs at $1.73 -- $3.46
1 Canadian dime at $1.43 -- $1.43
2 Quarters at $3.59 -- $7.18
2.4877 ASW at $23.98/oz -- $59.65

So the total silver value you received is approximately $127.32...Initially I was thinking I was going to calculate the markup that you paid, but it turns out you actually paid around 94.25% of the spot value for these coins.

I think that's a steal, nice buy :hello2:

Plus Morgan's and peace dollars always hold a premium over spot. Way to go!!

Thanks. It's not a steal, I know, but I didn't want to steal. 120 is what I offered and frankly I think the guy would have taken anything I offered. I showed him 113 on my calculator and told him I would round up. The guy knew nothing about coins and was looking to me as the coin "expert". I hope he tells others he was satisfied with the deal and I have the opportunity to buy more. It's not worth it to me to rip someone off.

Anyway, I will always pay over melt for US silver dollars and, according to eBay, I have a decent shot at a premium on the Chile coins (but I may just hold onto them).

I do the same thing you do. Made a flashly looking ad in photoshop, throw it a bunch of hidden key words, repost a couple time a day. Made some pretty good deals on craigslist.

I have been too busy to CRH much lately, but bought some more coins from someone who did not want them.

Three '22 Peace dollars
One '23 Peace dollar
One '25 Stone Mountain comm. half
Two Mercs, '25 and '27
One 1905 V nickel

Paid $115. Above melt I know, but I am fine with the price.

The Chilean coins should have a slight premium over melt, unless they are below Fine.
