I snacked up some goodies today at http://www.windycitydetectors.com. Ron Shore hooked me up with all the goodies I required and then some! What can I say, he's a class act all the way! Got my Dad the new 10" DD coil for his DFX as well. They say a picture's worth a 1000 words so here comes 29,000 words!!

Now I can't wait to get out there and do some snow hunting!

Congrats bud!!!! Lots of goodies to play with, now go and find some treasure!!! :icon_pirat:

I dig that shovel! Looks like you got the gear to get the goods now!

Congrats on getting the etrac. I didnt know you were picking one up. You are gonna love that baby. I leave mine in coin mode, deep on, auto sens plus 2, neutral ground and 4 tone. I think Greg and Dave do the same thing but go with multitone. Santa was good to ya. Hope this cold azz weather breaks so we can get to goiopark and find the good stuff. TMAN...

Brett,

Awesome scores! I'll bet getting your hands on that E-Trac was a great feeling. It seems the E-Trac is the way to go for the deep coins! Promise us you'll leave us some coins! lol, congratulations.

Joe

p.s. nice dog!

Now for the accessories...The two things I got for mine are the swingy thingy (google it you'll find it) and a custom arm cuff made and sold by another detectorist. All the complaints about weight are eliminated if you get the swingy thingy. The weight of the detector goes across your shoulders as the detector is suspended from you on a bungee cord. The analogy I use is a 200lb construction worker can guide a 5 ton load, when it's suspended on a crane, and that's what you do with the ST. It's also nice when you want to use two hands to scratch something and you don't have to bend over and set down the machine. It hangs in front of you. The custom arm cuff does make it more comfortable but it's kind of like putting custom wheels on a Ferrari. I venture to say that soon the Explorer will be regulated to back up duty and on the market in a year or two. I got mine cuz I wanted it and the economy hadn't gone to heck yet. It could truly be a turn on and go machine. Things work much better when you know how to adjust the settings for you and your environment. Congrats on all the goodies. 1 more. I use an Oyster shucking knife for coin popping and shallow stuff. It's got a blunt end that won't scratch a coin unless you are a bruiser and each edge can be sharpened a little to cut a slit in the grass. The blade is tempered to open Oysters who are closed tightly for survival and you can pry like crazy and not worry about breaking it like you would a pocket knife. The local law enforcement, if they didn't like you, would less likely be suspicious of an Oyster opening tool. I have diarrhea of the brain...some of the digging tools have "for digging only" stamped on them, I think for the same reason. Regards...Jim

Thanks for the reply Jim. I actually bought one of the swingy thingy's early on and only used it a few times. It was just a little bit obtrusive and needed a belt or at least jeans to clip to. In the summer I don't really where those things and had a tie-on canvas apron so I had no where to clip it to. I started to try and work without it and always think about it when I get really tired at the end of a long day. For the most part I'm good without it, but it couldn't hurt to give it another whirl... especially in snow hunts if it keeps the detector off the ground (can't remember if it does). I think it might clip to my new pouch belt pretty good as long as I keep it tight around my waste. Something to look into.

I planned on hanging onto my SE Pro for a while anyway to do comparisons, and also to have for anyone wanting to come along on a hunt with me and be able to "keep up" :)

The oyster shucking knife looks like a sweet little tool. I got something for the same task that's a little different but sounds like it works equally as well. It's a Magna-Tuff coin probe made of Zytel. AKA, "The Ultimate Shank". See here:

All I can say is WOW!

Someone sure knew what you (and just about everyone that reads this post) wanted .
You're gonna have a lot of fun with those toys.
Mike

Congrats on your new toys, just got mine a couple of weeks ago too. Can't stop playing with the different discrimination combinations, and learning it. Looks like we're going to have a big E-trac crew this spring! HH!

Send Santa this way!

I would love to try one but just can't bring myself to drop the kind of money I did buying my first explorer. (about the same price)

PS.. For some reason I'm not scared of you anymore. :D

Hey Patch,

If we can ever meet up for a hunt I'll let you try it out for free! We split any really good finds though ;)

Nothing to be scared of is right... silly Patch.
