Hi. Looks like a good stash. I am brand new to detecting. I live on Long Island and the bridge to my beach finally opened today. Can someone tell me where on the beach (after a storm like Sandy) is the best place to start? Is it better to hunt near the shoreline or up by the dunes where everything was deposited. Any help is appreciated. Today my finds included a rusty nail and a bottle cap so I could use some help. Thanks.

Good looking haul, any gold or silver in that pile of jewelry?

WOW, congrats! that looks like a great haul! Who would have thought storms were good for something...

That is a great haul - friend told me there were huge troughs in your area at low tide - he found 25 in like 4 days

I haven't found twenty five, but I'll take my 14. It's been a sandy year so to speak. It's great when you can slow down the swing to low and slow and hit targets on every swing. When it's sanded like it was all year, you hope you stumble upon a fresh drop.

The water had sand too deep to find much most of the year. There were very few occasions where you could find a decent hole.
