I'm buying new SS. It seems that most use the 8" coil. Doesn't the 10.5" get better depth. Would the larger coil be more difficult to handle in knee deep water in the surf. Would there be too much pulling and pushing from wave action to keep the larger coil near the bottom. Or is it that PP is easier with the smaller coil and more manageable in the surf? Which coil should I select and why?
TIA,
Tom

Buy it with a 8" coil , the 10.5 is good for covering a lot of ground fast . Hunting with a 8" coil is like hunting with a 12 coil, it go very deep , and is easy to pinpoint with. I bought a SS with a 10.5 coil and sent in back and had a 8" coil put on and have no regrets.

I agree Ron!
I've owned both as well and the 8" in VCO is killer! The 10 1/2" just felt like additional weight.
The 8" was a dream come true to swing on the beach and unbelievable for slicing through the water.

I have the 10.5 coil and in knee deep it slices easily through the water, compared to some other brands. I believe the coil is slightly thinner then others, allowing less drag.

You can't go wrong with either coil. With that said, I use the 8" coil and have had a lot of success with it.

I use both, but prefer the 10.5" for the additional coverage.
