Detector(s) used
Tesoro Sand Shark....Aqua pulse 1B....Equinox ll
Primary Interest:
Shipwrecks
I am thinking of buying a large aluminum ice cube scoop and drilling big holes in it so sand leaves "out the back" and any coins stay in. The sand here is very fine and I think this would work for fun dives.
Would anyone know the biggest hole size to drill to ensure no coins go out with the sand
Any other better ideas would be welcome

Just get a plastic ping-pong paddle or plastic scoop. You will be much better off fanning the sand instead of digging. You'll be suprised the size of hole you make with a few seconds a hard fanning.

Yup..... ping pong paddle for sure. I tried a larger paddle but it was too hard to get a good fanning motion going.

Drill some holes in the paddle.

Looks like a trip to the sports store instead of the restaurant supply store then, thanks to all

fanning works good in clear visability but a scoop in poor vis is good too. if you make it out of all plastic it wont affect the detector. I made mine out of pvc pipe with an added plastic handle

Thanks, I'll give that a try. This post was mainly for use on sand only, I haven't managed to organize a detector yet or found any wreck sites so far, I heard about a huge anchor though so the hunt has begun
