Have you actually tried to use this contraption? Ifso, what were the results of your field tests?

Um, not sure what you mean by that.
Several sand scoops have extended arms so you don't have to bend over.
This is not rigid enough for surf detecting. Need a heavy stainless steel for that.
Works as well as any other I have seen in dry sand.
The only thing about it is that it has no metal so targets show a little faster.
Also it is cheaper.
