Hi folks, I am heading to Sanabel isle next week and planning on doing a little MDing. Can anyone give me some advice on the area, I have never been there. Is it better for shelling, then it is for MDing?
Don't know about detecting but I've heard its great for sharks teeth!
If you're planning on a water hunt I'd keep an eye out!!

I will, lost isle recovery, thanks!

Go to Bowman Beach it's a good place but if you find any thing there come to Naples and I show some good places to go .239-331-1352

$6 toll to get on Island, Left at 4-way onto periwinkle, to Lighthouse beach. Shorter drive than to other beaches on Sanibel, more detecting time! Pay to Park as usual, you WILL get a ticket if you try to skirt this, especially this time of year. Stay on the Gulf side for sandy tourist swimming area. Avoid the inner bay side, only fishermen and rip-currents, never any swimming. If you drive to Blind Pass up on Captiva, you will have to be ready to dig through shells, lots of them. All broken and picked through, small keepers if you are into shelling, no more beauties like back in the day. Best to go to She Sells Sea Shells and buy one if that's your thing. Also, parking will be a b**** you wont be the only tourist at the beach, so GET THERE EARLY!!!. Finally, thankyou very much for visiting Lee County, and please spend all of your money here in my local economy :-) Good luck to you and I hope you find many treasures!

Just remember this , if you are not on the beach by 10 AM you can forget it. The season is here !!

Wow,it didn't occur to me that the beach is going to be so crowded. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to have to get out early or late. I think we are staying at a hotel on the beach. Thanks for the info boys!

They are right, I hit the beach at sunrise and then when it starts to get busy I head into the water.
Hey Ron, are Naples, Sanibel, and FTM Beach all pay and park now? Almost everything in Charlotte and Sarasota are with the exception of a few places on Boca Grande.

No one will be on the beach if it doesn't warm up and the sun comes out!! Good luck to you!!

Every beach in Naples and in the County you have to Pay. Handicap parks free on all City and some county beaches. Handicap must pay at county and state Parks.County wide Parking Permits are $50 Plus .

Thanks everyone for your input. Casper those shells look amazing. I can't wait to do the "Sanibel stoop" and collect some of those babies! I was just hunting the beach today up here on LI. It was a brisk 32 degrees and windy! Looking forward to the warm Fl beaches, just not the crowds.
