Hey all, I’ve been prospecting at San Joaquin River broken bridge just below Friant damm, I’ve walked across the bridge west to the madera side and headed south down the river about a quarter mile. I’ve been searching for a decent place to dig but all I find is sand even when I dig to China , please help where is a decent place to start in that area . Most say dig till you hit clay , I couldn’t find clay if I brought my mini excavator!!! Lol . I’m new to this sport and the only treasure I’ve found is the time spent with my family trying to put gold in the pan .

("San Joaquin") and got a bunch of great hits talking about the San Joaquin Dam. You might want to browse the results. Just hit this search: "San Joaquin"

I think you are digging in the wrong spot, did you do your research of the area?

Not enough, please kindly advise as to what I’ve done wrong, or what to do right as I’m completely new to prospecting .
