This part hasn’t been bulldozed. A lot quieter on the iron signals.
Top row: another handle to match one found earlier this week. Also a small iron buckle and an eye bolt. This buckle has an angled frame. Most of mine are flat.
Bottom row: deer slug, a piece of iron with a brass or copper attachment/rivet and a .223 brass cartridge. The ground is like concrete. We really need rain.

Are shotguns and muzzle loaders still the only permissible gun to hunt deer in Iowa? Last deer I got was one in Iowa with a Steven's bolt action 12 gauge loaded with slug shot. I've not hunted anything bigger than Quail, Pheasant or Cotton Tail ever since and those were even long ago. Maybe I'll get back into hunting when the grandson gets older. All I had were girls for kids to raise and they never showed and interest in going after Bambi.

They now allow certain rifle calibers during shotgun seasons. I believe they have to be a straight-walled cartridge (no neck) and be larger than a .357. I know .45 Long Colt is used, as is .45-70
