I am trying to find out anything I can on this medal that I found years ago . I'm not sure what it is made of but I think it might be copper . It measures 5 1/2" from the very top of the chain to the bottom of the arrowhead . The arrowhead measures 2 1/2" tall and 1 1/2" wide . The sabre at the top measures 2 1/4" long and it says "A.A.O.N.M.S. LOS ANGELES , CAL . MAY 1907 " . It is turning a light shade of green on the reverse side , is there anything safe to clean it up with ? Any info is greatly appreciated .
Thanks , Don

The sword is Shriners related and Salt Lake Route was a nickname for the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad. Personally, I wouldn't clean it as Ithink it has a nice patina. I'll keep looking and see what I can find about the specific date.

AAONMS= Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine

OK....There was a conclave (gathering) in LA in May of 1907.

They made a short film about the conclave and it was shown in the nickleodeon theatres of that era. There was also a bad train wreck on the Southern Pacific RR after the event was over in which 37 Shriners were killed on their way home.
