Hey guys... I am pretty new to detecting for Civil War artifacts and have found a few things that I need help with. They were all found last summer in an area that saw big time action here in Virginia. In the group photo, I know that the one on the upper left is part of a Confederate Cannon shell. You can see the threaded area for the fuse. The other items have me puzzled. One looks like a possible spade. The one with the hole in the center may be part of a hammer or (I hope) part of a weapon. The long item with the flat area...... it seems like it was a medical tool or perhaps part of a weapon cleaning kit. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The shell fragment is threaded, I could be wrong, but I always heard that the threaded fuse holes were all Yankee, and the smooth ones were Reb.

No,no,no....It can go either way.

The part of a shell is the only thing I can say with 99.99 % accuracy is actually CW related.
The other stuff cd be, but nothing that sticks out from any of the reference books I've looked at or own.

Keep hunting. If you find fired artillary or fired bullets, those guys were shooting at something.

The bottom 'eye' shaped piece might be the bottom of a 'English' style stirrup?

I was looking at the picture again, the item on the right kinds reminds me of a old weeding blade, they were not very thick, I have one somewhere, I will look for it this weekend and see if the size is simular.
