OK old knife forum experts. Can anyone date this knife? It is 15" long. Marked on blade Russell Green River Works with two diamonds stamped on the middle of the blade. It has a very nice feel to it. Both sides of the blade are very sharp. I had never seen a knife with the handle side tapered to the pommel. Anyone know anything about these knives? Thank you.

The double diamond logo means it post dates 1884. The double diamond became their logo after 50 years in operation. If the logo and verbiage is acid etched instead of stamped it probably dates from the early 20th century at the earliest. Prior to that it was stamped.

Not finding an example with the same handle. If you google Russell Green River Works, you'll find several knife forums. If anything post in one of them and see if the can narrow it down some.

The knife was not made in it's present configuration by Russell. It is an old Russell kitchen or butcher knife crudely made into a fighting style knife. Handle and guard are not original to the knife.
