Rummaging through a vast garage sale today I found a bucket of old buttons. Five are silver-coloured, with the words "Commonwealth Peace Office" on the front, surrounding the English crown in the centre. Does anyone know how old these are, and if they have any value?On the back is the maker, Stokes and Sons. Many thanks Kangelani from Australia

and found something about the company (Stokes and Sons) on "Button" [stokes and sons] Colonial Australian (Jan 14, 2007, 08:02 AM) and Google showed this thread: Stokes & Sons: 1856 – today

Are you sure it doesn't say "officer" rather than "office?"

Many thanks to all contributors. A wonderful discovery at the War Memorial website. Apologies for the absence of a photo but all my images were not clear enough to post here. And apologies too for the typo; - yes it should read "OfficeR", and not 'office'. Thanks again for such interesting responses. Much appreciated
