In 1859 the KGC's leaders met at the Greenbrier Resort in Virginia. These were men of the third degree Knights of the Columbian Star. After the meeting they produced a book for members called the Rules, Regulations and Principles of the KGC. This book has been republished. No more having to fly to Washington to research it for clues.

This was first published in the only year that Bickley was not The Grand Commander of the K.G.C. in that year he spent half the year in and around Marshall, Texas. It was the same year that Republicans nominated Abraham Lincoln for president. The same time frame that there was the democratic convention and national K.G.C. convention 200 miles apart.

I have been doing more research on the big plantation owners in Harrison county Texas. There are two names that keep coming up time after time. Feel that for some reason I am missing some of the signs that are left out in plain sight. These men were the biggest slave owners west of the Mississippi. They would have bankrolled the KGC to a great extent and were great friends of Gen. Greer. Sorry to HYJACK the thread.
