RPG25's CRH Log

Instead of clogging the board with my finds, I've decided to meet the status quo and make a log! Today's finds were a 1964 half and 2 silver dimes from the reject tube. After I dumped I found 2 more silver Rosies, a Merc, and an 80% Canadian from 2 boxes. Not a bad day in my book and definitely one of my best reject find days!

Btw, though I have several 90% halves, this was only my second found in the wild. Rest were purchased. Only found the "lesser" 40%ers in the past.

So I haven't been as big into the hunt so far in 2013. I've been busy with work and what not. Also took a week vacation in there somewhere. Anyway, got back out there today. Finally dumped two boxes that I had sitting around (no reject finds sadly!). Next stop was a pickup bank for 2 more. Got home and plucked 5 Rosies from the batch. 3 in one box and 2 in the other. Not disappointed with my finds at all! Ended up getting a '52,'56,'60,'62, and a '64.
The top row in the photo is box one and the bottom row two. The '64 had weird tarnishing. Almost missed it rim checking like I always do.

Thought I was in a slight skunk streak as the silvers have been few and far between compared to the boxes I was getting at the end of 2012. I guess I was proved wrong today as the silver has arrived in bursts! That always seems to be the case! Anyways, I decided to do a little bit of Sunday driving so I could hit a pickup bank that was open. Grabbed two boxes. They produced 8 silver between the two of them, one of which was an ender. 7 Rosies and 1 Mercury. 3 in the first box and 5 in the second. See pictures below... Same as before. Top row is the 1st box and 2nd and 3rd are the second box. Happy hunting:)

1945 Mercury
1946 Rosie
1951 Rosie
1952 Rosie
1959 Rosie
3x1964 Rosies

EDIT: I think my dumps have picked up on the reject tray and tube finds. They have been clean the past few times I dumped.

good finds, friend. I have done 4 dime boxes this week for only 1 silver roosevelt dime which was a reverse ender that i did not notice checking for enders since it wasn't dirty, only silver in the batch... I agree, silver dimes have been way worse then they have been.

Agreed. Personally, I see a lot of people here saying dimes are "done" and not worth the time anymore. While the past month or so has seen lower than normal averages, I don't think it's time for us to give up hope yet. This has happened to me a few times. There are lows and highs in this hobby. It happened a few times last year and then I would go on a tare an get 5+ in a single box. Whatever the case, these mini skunk streaks are not enough to get me off dimes and on to halves. Dimes continue to be way more convenient. We shall see.... Just gotta play the waiting game!
How you doing with nickels? I may drop a dime box and pick up two nickels and a penny box instead. I was doing well with them there for a bit...

quite honestly, i have not touched more than 1 nickel box and 3 cent boxes this year, i've been hitting up half dollars way harder than my dump banks like me to, banging out skunk after skunk is forcing me to lower my volume again, unfortunately.
My half dollar skunk streak this year is 17 boxes, my very first box of 2012 netted me 4 silvers, i thought this year was going to turn out real well, but the tides have changed.
nickels have been producing very well for me, i just don't have the time for them right now... i am basically buying and "flipping" boxes 2-3 times a week due to low bankroll as well.
have a good one.

Its all good it all adds up nice!!

Dumped my clad from yesterday and flipped it. Ended up going to another bank and grabbing a box of dimes, nickels, and pennies. The dime box was done first as I'm wiped out from work. I knew I could blow through it because all I was doing was edge checking. Ended up with 4 silver Rosies! Almost missed one of the 46s. Was as thick as a 2013 dime and it had a slight brown tarnish to it so I initially thought it was clad until I double checked. Didn't get to the nickels and pennies yet. Gonna start those after my nap haha

nice find;... yeah, don't search dimes if your eyes are tired, you'll surely miss some... god knows how many i've missed this way LOL

Hit the nickel box I picked up yesterday. Was able to pull 3 war nickels out of the batch. Very happy with those results! I love me my silver however, I will say that I'm not really looking for war nickels when I do nickels though. I'm mostly looking for older stuff like buffaloes, liberty nickels, etc. I search the dimes for silver and the nickels and pennies are for fun, to break the monotony, and are a stab at a potential numismatic find. Like I said though, I will keep war nickels when I find them:)

I can't find any pennies in my area, except on the magnets at my local credit union.

I'm the same way. I may find the occasional British penny and Canadian cents on the magnet but no boxes. Just cents.

You can't get a box of pennies like you would a box of dimes or halves?

Pennies refer to the btitish coin because it says "one PENNY" on the back... we don't call ours pennies, they are known as CENTS, since the back of the coin says "ONE CENT"
hope that clarifies :)

Eh. It's a matter of semantics and while I can, and often do, appreciate the numismatic side of the hobby, recently I've only been into the silver side so I don't pay too much attention to that stuff. Everyone knew what I meant haha Some people here are worse than grammar nazis!

Decided to hit the banks hard and get 5 boxes done today. Doesn't sound like a lot to some but since I just walk in and ask for boxes (I don't have a set order ready every week because my schedule changes) I have to hit a few banks to get it. Since my bankroll for CRH is $500, I have to turn the coins around to get more boxes. Anyway, I hit 5 boxes and sadly only got 6 out of that. All rosies. I know, I know! At least I got silver but where I am located, 5 boxes is usually good for between 10 and 12 silver dimes. Also, it would have been an average of less than one per box if it hadn't been for 2 silver in one of the very last rolls in the last box, so I lucked out. Anyway, I am very happy I didn't get skunked completely but still think my efforts could have produced more. Especially since the work I put in today usually gets me twice as much silver. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I am dumping at a bank that I don't often use but usually has good reject finds.

Got out of work early and decided to pickup more dimes. Hit 5 different banks. Got a dime box at 2 different dedicated pickups and $150 in loose rolls from 3 different random banks along the way. In total it was 2 dime boxes, $100 in loose MWRs, and $50 in CWRs. All of that produced 8 silver Rosies. Also scored 2 silver halves out of $4.50 in halves that I got from a teller tray at my regular bank (I don't normally involve this branch in hunting and was only there to sign a document. Took a stab and asked for halves). See the picture below!

I am just trying to teach people the correct term.

Another day, another hunt. Hit the road and picked up 3 boxes from 2 different banks. That produced 8 silvers total. 6 Rosies and 2 Mercury dimes. In the picture below, the finds are in order. First row, first box, second row, second box, etc.
